Edson Oliveira was born in Brazil and  has a Bachelor degree in classical guitar at Federal University of Bahia. He has been deeply involved with Brazilian music. Edson moved to the United States in 1997. He lives in Eugene, OR and performs regularly as a soloist and with his band Sun Bossa. He teaches Brazilian music in guitar workshops in the Northwest

Edson started playing guitar at age 13. He wanted to learn how to play Bossa Nova, the charming and newly created music of Brazil. At the time, there were many young people in Brazil who wanted to learn how to play Bossa Nova on guitar, but not many guitar players who really could interpret it in its beauty, richness and complexity! Edson's love for this rich, unique and beautiful music and especially for the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim led him to master the style, which now he plays with grace and proficiency.
